The Chair in European Studies at the University of Fribourg and the Institute of Political Science at the University of Lausanne are currently recruiting PhD researchers for SNSF-funded projects starting in early 2026.

Both projects explore how citizens understand and engage with democracy — from democratic commitment and identity to political participation and inequality.
Successful candidates will join dynamic international teams, gain hands-on research experience, and contribute to comparative studies across Europe.
The positions offer full funding, mentoring, and opportunities for further training.
