Mario Behrens joined the Institute of Political Science as a PhD candidate (University Assistant) in February 2022. After completing his Master of Arts in Global Studies at the University of Vienna and the University of Roskilde, he worked for the United Nations in the field of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in Geneva.
Mario's research interests are in the field of international relations. In particular, he focuses on the influence of international humanitarian actors on local conflict resolution processes in South Sudan.
