Portrait of the Institute of Political Science
With approximately 400 students, Polical Science, the department of social sciences' youngest institute, already is one of the largest disciplines of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. It can be studied as bachelor's and master's degree subject or as part of the interdisciplinary ‚Changing Societies‘ master's degree program. The program stands out for its close relation to current political issues, as well as for a solid methodological training of quantitative and qualitative methods. Doctoral studies are available within the professorships' research focuses on comparative political science, political sociology and international relations.
There is a close collaboration with the Swiss Peace Foundation (swisspeace) as well as with the Basel Institute on Governance (BIG), which are both associated institutes of the University of Basel.
