Curriculum Vitae
Laurent Goetschel is professor of political science at the University of Basel and director of the Swiss Peace Foundation (swisspeace). He studied political science and international relations at the University of Geneva and at the Institut de hautes études en relations internationales (IUHEI). Some of his previous positions include visiting scholar at the Center for European Studies at Harvard University and at the Center for International Conflict Resolution at Columbia University, head of the national research program "Schweizer Aussenpolitik" (NFP42), lecturer at the Institute of Political Science at the University of Bern and personal assistant to the Swiss Foreign Minister, Federal Councillor Micheline Calmy-Rey. His research interests include issues of peace and conflict studies as well as foreign policy analysis. He is a member of the Commission for Research Partnerships with Developing Countries (KFPE).
